Project Description

New Park and Ride opens in Hazel Grove!

The brand new Park and Ride facility in Hazel Grove, Stockport is set to relieve congestion throughout the region and take 6000 cars off the road. The new project is the first of its kind with Stagecoach Manchester opening the privately funded £3 million facility which will host a fleet of 40 hybrid electric buses, all installed with free wifi. The grand opening of the Park and Ride saw a comedian Justin Moorhouse and Stagecoach Commercial Directors take to the site to unveil the brand new transport link to the public.

The Park and Ride will transport passengers through Stockport into Manchester, passing through Stepping Hill, Heaviley, Stockport, Heaton Chapel, Levenshulme, Longsight, Ardwick and eventually to the city centre of Manchester.

Christopher Bowles, Stagecoach Manchester managing director, said: “This substantial investment by Stagecoach in Greater Manchester’s first bus Park & Ride facility demonstrates our commitment to provide affordable and accessible transport for the region.“

Stafford Rainwater Systems are pleased to have been able to support such a project that not only supports our local community, but develops a greener and more sustainable future. Our involvement in the project saw us install a curved Aluminium Fascia and Soffit System to the hub building. The striking design can be seen from the busy A6 road and was received incredibly well on the grand opening.

Martin Griffiths, Stagecoach Group chief executive said: “We are fully behind plans to make Greater Manchester a real economic powerhouse of the north. Transport is central to making that happen and the bus is the most important and accessible form of public transport.“

Phil Stafford, Stafford Rainwater Systems Director commented “We are thrilled with the finished project and hope everyone throughout the area utilises such a practical and efficient facility.“
